About
What this site is
Take Home Pay Calculator is a single-purpose tool: it breaks one paycheck down line by line, showing gross pay, federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, state income tax and deductions, and the net amount that remains. It covers all 50 states and the District of Columbia, with a dedicated page for each jurisdiction whose 2026 tax rules have been verified against official sources.
The site exists because the gap between a salary figure and a paycheck figure is where most pay confusion lives. A salary is an annual gross number; a paycheck is what survives four or five separate calculations. This tool puts those calculations on one screen, in the order a payroll system applies them.
How estimates are made
All figures are annualized estimates. The calculator works out a full year of tax from the 2026 federal parameters (IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32) and from state parameters verified against official state sources, then divides the result evenly across the chosen pay frequency. The full method, its assumptions and its limits are set out on the methodology page.
Every worked example and benchmark figure on this site is produced by the same calculation engine the interactive calculator uses. No example number is typed by hand.
Data sources and verification
Federal parameters come from IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32 for the 2026 tax year. State parameters come from official state department of revenue sources and enacted state law, verified on 2026-10-12; each state page ends its tax notes with the source used for that state. A jurisdiction whose rules have not cleared verification is shown with a pending-verification notice rather than estimated figures.
Privacy in one paragraph
All calculation happens in the browser. The site has no accounts, no forms that collect personal information and no server-side storage of anything entered. The privacy page describes the position in full.
